Giorgio DeFalco... Hero Of The Concordia Disaster

I had to take a moment from my daily schedule to commend this guy... just listen to the transcriptions of the radio conversation between him and the Captain of the doomed vessel, whom it appears had not only already abandoned his ship,  but also his responsibilities for those passengers aboard, whom he left to fend for themselves in an incredible situation  of survival that could've come straight from the big screen of disaster movie.

At a time in my life when I've all but given up faith that there are people left in positions of authority that will do the right and righteous thing, and do so with conviction,  and in a decisive manner without hesitation... halfway around the world I find this guy...

... and I 'm left in awe.

In a world where the term hero is bandied about all to frequently, this man is a hero in every sense of the word. Unexpectedly thrust  into the center an  event of  a most extreme magnitude, he acts with resolve and responsibility to the oath he has taken.

Words cannot express my admiration for this man... his voice will echo in mind for a long time.
